 Education School of Visual Concepts — Creative Direction Spokane Falls Community College — Advertising Art Washington State University — Graphic Design/Business Kolea opened her illustration art and photography services agency in 1986 to follow her dream of working professionally with creative people and be surrounded by high quality art. Prior to that, she carried her degree in Commercial and Advertising Art to Seattle where she worked for three years as an agency production artist, and Art Director. Her art and production understanding and background as an art buyer are a valuable asset for clients commissioning the art and the artists. The licensing division, Artists of Kolea Licensing Group (A~OK) enthusiastically launched in 2004 and is growing rapidly. Kolea Baker runs a highly regarded art representation agency that serves clients in all product licensing markets; paper goods, textiles, apparel, gifts, home décor, home fashions and entertainment. By carefully restricting the number of artists represented, handpicking each one for talent, professionalism and attitude, she can concentrate on nurturing relationships between artist and client. Kolea has served on the Board of the Seattle Design Association (SDA) and the Executive Board of the Society of Photographers and Artists Representatives (SPAR). Kolea was a founder, executive board member and Secretary Treasurer of The Illustration Conference, better known as ICON. She is a member of the Graphic Artist Guild and since its inception has served as an advisory board member of the exquisite industry publication 3 x 3 Magazine of Contemporary Art. Kolea is an active voice for the business of art. She contributes professional articles, educational chapters and editorial features in several industry books and magazines and is frequently cited as an expert in the field. Kolea is a genuine art advocate. Not only does she serve professional organizations she also enjoys donating her time to speak, teach classes and host workshops at more than 15 art schools and universities internationally. Kolea thrives living in a beautiful area of the world, Seattle Washington, with her talented husband Don and two delightful and inspiring boys. |
